The Album of the Year in the Pisces Neptunian Age

Hi, it is your self-proclaimed witchy music snob here and we are going to talk about my favorite album of 2024 and why this album aligns with the astrology of the times.

I don't know why it has taken the world so long to catch up on Jessica Pratt’s music, but Finally she is getting the recognition she deserves. Maybe her slow notoriety into the indie rock music scene was due to being a Taurus Sun, for sometimes it takes a while for this practical earth sign to build the momentum they need. Also, Pratt is going through her North Node Return in Aries and she has an Aries stellium (Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter). She may possibly have an Aries moon as well, though we do not have an official time of birth. Nonetheless, her venture out of the indie music void and into the more mainstream limelight, may actually be perfectly aligned with her natal chart’s timing.

In May of this year, Pratt released her fourth album, Here in the Pitch. Immediately, her album was coined as one of the best of the year and earned her high rankings in various mainstream and indie music publications. Here in the Pitch is only 27 mins long in length and houses 9 beautifully orchestrated songs. It’s a short record, but holds a pristine luminous sound with modern bossa nova nods and 70’s folky mystic noir. Pratt’s soothing vocals captivate you and haunt you at the same time. They feel distant yet close. Nurturing, but withdrawn. The whole album feels like you are transported to the liminal space between here and now. Here in the Pitch is a short album, but the alluring flow of the instrumentation and Pratt’s cooing gentle hypnotic voice makes you forget that time is even real.
